his research focuses in particular on the history of renaissance and early modern art, with special attention to italy and to the global connections of artistic culture. his main fields of study include art historiography, the tradition of the warburg school, the thought of edgar wind, the reception of antiquity, and the theory of form and the formless in images.
he teaches courses and seminars on renaissance art and philosophy, renaissance venetian painting, and the historical and critical analysis of works of art, combining teaching with scholarly research and with the curatorship of editorial and academic projects in the field of art history.
