graduated in philosophy from the university of bologna (1984), phd in english language literatures and cultures (1992), holder of a chair in history and philosophy in upper secondary schools (bologna, imola). after a twenty-year experience as a lecturer in academies of fine arts (bologna, urbino, macerata), where he taught art history, aesthetics, philosophy of the image and art pedagogy, since 2008 he has been teaching contemporary art history, twentieth-century art history, and twentieth-century visual culture and languages at the department of humanities of the university of macerata.

for over thirty years he has conducted cycles of lectures on the history of contemporary art and literature at cultural associations, foundations and museums throughout the national territory. he has also been involved in the training of upper secondary school teachers, holding qualification courses at the academy and at the university of macerata.
