marco filibeck

lighting designer
lighting designer and lighting project designer with extensive experience in theatre, performing arts and cultural events. the son of painter gilberto filibeck, he began his career as a lighting operator for vasco rossi's concerts between 1979 and 1984, also collaborating with artists such as enzo jannacci and loredana bertè. after graduating as a theatre technician at the teatro comunale di bologna, he joined the teatro alla scala in milan in 1985, where he became lighting supervisor in 1996 and, from 2009 to 2022, resident lighting designer and head of the lighting department. throughout his career he has worked with leading italian and international directors including franco zeffirelli, luca ronconi, liliana cavani, gabriele salvatores and àlex ollé. he has designed the lighting for numerous productions and major events, including the ballet productions roberto bolle & friends staged in some of italy's most important archaeological sites, from the colosseum and the baths of caracalla to the valley of the temples, the greek theatre of taormina, the arena di verona and major italian squares. alongside theatre, he develops lighting projects for exhibitions, art, fashion and exhibition spaces, collaborating with international institutions and brands such as dolce & gabbana and designing projects for museums, showrooms and installations, including the new lighting design for the museo del teatro alla scala. in 2018 he received the franco abbiati prize for the lighting design of the production hänsel und gretel. in 2023 the monograph marco filibeck lighting designer was published. in 2025 he received the premio luce alla carriera, awarded by aidi, the italian lighting association.
